At Visitation Hotel, we had an uncompromising vision for our restaurant. We knew we needed someone truly remarkable: a culinary visionary with a passion for excellence and a deep understanding of local cuisine. We were fortunate to find not just one, but two such individuals in Frederick natives Bryan and Michael Voltaggio.
The celebrity chefs have returned to their hometown to reimagine tavern dining. Located inside the beautifully restored Visitation Hotel, Wye Oak Tavern represents a deeply personal project, set within a former Catholic chapel just blocks from where their culinary journeys began.
Bryan, a James Beard semifinalist and reality cooking show star, began his career as a busboy at a local hotel at age 15. He went on to pursue his culinary passion at the Culinary Institute of America. His brother Michael, winner of the sixth season of Bravo's Top Chef (where he competed against Bryan), began his career at 15 and completed his formal training at the Greenbrier Culinary Apprenticeship Program. He has since earned a Michelin star and been a James Beard Best New Restaurant finalist.
At Wye Oak Tavern, the brothers combine their distinct culinary styles—Bryan's modern American approach with Michael's imaginative, modernist flair—to create a playful yet refined dining experience that celebrates their shared roots and the best of the Mid-Atlantic region.

Our martini service features sophisticated creations like the "Mirepoix", a vibrant blend of carrot-infused Ketel One Vodka, Plymouth Navy Strength Gin, Dolin Dry Vermouth, Espelette Pepper, Celery Bitters, and Pickled Mirepoix. Or, try the signature "Wye Oak" martini, crafted with Old Raj Gin or Absolut Elyx Vodka, Gonzalez Byass Extra Seco Vermouth, House Orange Bitters, and a Lemon Twist.

Acorn Provisions, our in-house café curated by the Voltaggio team, offers a warm welcome to both hotel guests and the local community.
