Celebrate Frederick County’s largest Independence Day event with live music across two stages, family-friendly rides, food trucks, and beer gardens—all leading up to a fireworks show that lights up the sky. National Clustered Spires High Wheel Race

Victorian-era bicycles take over downtown Frederick in the only race of its kind in the U.S. Racers—many in full costume—pedal high-wheel bicycles through the heart of the city, cheered on by crowds lining the streets. Commemoration of the Battle of Monocacy

Known as “the battle that saved Washington,” this annual event honors Frederick’s Civil War legacy through ranger-led walking tours, live reenactments, and immersive storytelling. Held at Monocacy National Battlefield just south of town, the weekend invites visitors to step into the past and explore the people, choices, and landscapes that helped shape the country’s history.
